Experience the Journey!
The artist has traveled the coast of California collecting clay impressions at the 21 California Mission. At each mission impressions were made from the adobe touched by the hands of the Indians, sanctuary door bosses, or knobs, beams, headstones, church beams, headstones, church bells, hand honed fountains, hand wrought iron gates, and when possible, missions artifacts, confessionals, and altars of the 13 stations. Each impression was made with reverence and care, into stamps using earth-based clay. These stamps are impressed into a soft clay body and designed in the form of a cross. The cross is hung from weathered wire and adorned with Indian glass lamp beads.

This series of Mission Crosses was commissioned by the Western Heritage Museum for their Civilizing of California exhibit, and is part of their permanent collection.

The artist is frequently commissioned to do larger versions of these Mission Crosses. If you are interested in one, please contact Lynn Hendricks directly.
